Tiny Tots & Tumble Tots
Tots classes are 30 minutes long and meet for 3, 12-week sessions. Parent participation is required for Tiny Tots only. Participants play games & sing songs while building gross motor skills and other age appropriate movement.
Combo Classes
Combo classes are 40 minutes long and meet for the first 14 weeks of the year. Class time is split between Ballet/Tumbling (3 yr olds) and Ballet/Tap (4 yr olds). No parent participation.
Pre-Dance
For 3 & 4 year olds at the Pre-Kindergarten level. An age appropriate blend of basic ballet, gymnastics, and fun rhythm and coordination excercises. Students must be 3 by October 31st to be eligible.
Ballet
For students age 5 and up. Ballet technique & terminology are presented in a fun, age appropriate manor. *Pink ballet shoes is standard. Please have hair pulled back in a bun, hair off of face.
Tap
Includes Pre-Tap for 4 & 5 year olds. Tap classes build fine movement and rhythmic vocabulary.
Jazz
Students must be 6 by October 31st. Dancing to high energy music, students learn isolations, extensions, & leaps. Later, students progress to multiple pirouettes, fouettes and other tricks. *Tan jazz shoes required.
Hip-Hop
Various styles are presented in our fastest growing dance form. Our hip-hop is family friendly--all movements and music are age-appropriate. Students must be 7 years old by October 31st. *Loose fitting clothing permitted. Black jazz sneakers required.
Lyrical
An expressive form incorporating Ballet and other techniques to convey an emotion or story.
Modern
Modern dance examines movement in an organic form. Students learn choreographic skills & improvisation techniques.
Pointe
By permission only. Those selected for Pointe are required to take at least 2 classes per week. *Black leotard, pink tights preferred. Please have hair pulled back in a bun, hair off of face.
Gymnastics
Includes Beginning & Intermediate/Advanced level classes. Students learn tumbling skills such as limbers, walkovers, handsprings, aerials, etc.
Adult Classes
This year, PDA is offering Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz & Ballet for our dancers over the age of 18. Dress code: comfy clothes and appropriate dance shoes. Recital is not required.
Contemporary
A blend of Modern, Jazz & Lyrical that demostrates strength & flexibility, uses internal connections, and displays dynamic movement. Prior dance experience & permission required.
B-Boy & B-Girl
Definition of B-Boy: (also B-Girl) 1) One who expresses himself through break-beats using various combinations or sets of breakdance moves such as "top rock," "uprock," "6-step," freeze," "power," and "airtracks." 2) "Bronx boy," or "Break boy" originated in New York during the evolution of hip hop culture; "Break boy" references the fact that b-boys dance during the lyric-free musical break of songs.
Take class with master b-boy Vincent Arcea, founding member of CircleNerdz B-boy Crew. Based out of Dayton, OH, CircleNerdz has been battling all over the state, most recently opening the Midwest Best Dance Crew contest at Music Center Hall in Cincinnati, judged by Shane Sparks & hosted by Tyler Nelson.
Class runs Thursdays @ 7pm (as of) 01/04/10, for ages 7 & up.
